Have you ever thought about the power one holds when they know exactly what they want to achieve, no matter the outcome? Whether we’re pioneering technologies or advocating for social justice, trusting in our unique perspectives empowers us to challenge the status quo and envision a better future, no matter the roadblocks that await. This is exactly what prompted our latest Cool Face of Bastet Noir to believe in herself and become a trailblazer in the sustainability realm.

Bianca Foley embarked on her content creation journey 12 years ago and has since evolved into a presenter, writer, and host of her podcast, Sustainably Influenced. She is also the founder of the Sustainably Influenced platform where you can get educated in a fun way and improve your shopping preferences without feeling overwhelmed. Who is Bianca Foley?

I am Bianca Foley, the founder of the sustainability-centred platform Sustainably Influenced. My work is dedicated to promoting eco-curious living and inspiring positive change. Through my platform, social media and podcast, I strive to create accessible and engaging content that encourages people to make sustainable choices in their daily lives but in a really easy to understand way. I don’t believe in judging people’s choices, so if we can make sustainability easy for everyday consumers, I feel we will have more consumers switching to sustainable brands!

What’s your morning routine like?

My morning routine is all about setting a positive and productive tone for the day. I like to get up and get on with my emails and tend to have a coffee with my dog in the garden haha. I take a few moments to plan my day and set my intentions. Checking emails and social media for any updates comes next, but I always make sure to limit screen time initially to stay focused and centred. I’m also really trying to get outside more so aiming to complete 10k steps per day (which I’m failing miserably at!)

You are the founder of the sustainability-centred platform Sustainably Influenced, a source for eco-conscious content that inspires positive change. How has the success of Sustainably Influenced impacted your life as an entrepreneur since its inception one year ago?

The success of Sustainably Influenced has been incredibly transformative. It has not only validated my passion for sustainability but also expanded my network, connecting me with like-minded individuals and brands. The platform’s growth has allowed me to take on new opportunities, such as collaborations and speaking engagements, further establishing my role as a thought leader in the sustainability space. It’s also been a personal journey of growth, teaching me resilience and the importance of staying true to my mission. I recently spoke at the Global Fashion Summit in Copenhagen which was an absolute dream come true!

In addition to having an online presence through the Sustainably Influenced platform and social media, you also have a podcast with the same name. Can you share with us how this project came to be, and how it’s different from written-format content in regards to the message you want to convey?

The podcast was born out of a desire to dive deeper into conversations about sustainability that written content sometimes can’t capture. The podcast was born out of curiosity about sustainability and from a conversation with one of my best friends, where we needed to know more. I love podcasting because it allows for a more personal and intimate connection with the audience, as they can hear the passion and nuances in the conversations with my guests. It provides a platform for more dynamic discussions, storytelling, and sharing diverse perspectives in a way that feels more immediate and engaging.

Three things you wish you knew before starting out?

1. The importance of building (and utilising) a strong network: Building a strong support system and connecting with other professionals in your field is invaluable.

2. Patience is key: Success doesn’t happen overnight, and it’s important to stay persistent and dedicated even when progress seems slow.

3. How to embrace failure and not wobble: Mistakes are part of the journey, and each one is an opportunity to learn and grow.

Biggest setback in life and what you’ve learned from it?

One of my biggest setbacks was underestimating the challenges of balancing my personal life with the demands of growing a business. It led to burnout, which forced me to reevaluate my priorities and establish healthier boundaries. From this experience, I learned the importance of self-care and the necessity of maintaining a balance to sustain long-term success.

Books that changed your life

It’s an oldie but a goodie, but I really enjoyed “Lean In” by Sheryl Sandberg — It inspired me to be more assertive in my professional life and embrace leadership roles with confidence. I would say, given that we are coming away from the “girl boss” era, that you should read it and apply the message to the current climate more consciously!

Favourite female empowerment speech

One of my favourite female empowerment speeches is Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s TED Talk “We Should All Be Feminists.” It’s a powerful and inspiring call for gender equality, challenging societal norms and encouraging women to embrace their strengths and ambitions.

What’s in your Bastet Noir cart?

Currently the Fillipa Shirt and Virginia Skirt. Both pieces are classic and timeless as well as being incredibly versatile. If I had them, they would be extremely hard working items in my wardrobe!
