I am a spiritual being who is grateful to have a life as a model, an author and a speaker.

What’s your morning routine like?

My mornings are gentle, quiet and reflective. I start with gentle movements as I gaze out onto nature and hear the early morning birds sing. I then meditate to center myself around something omniscient, omnipresent and benevolent. Then I will have a light breakfast and am ready for my day.

Your dedication to promoting inclusivity in the fashion industry is commendable and so inspiring. Can you delve into a project or initiative you were involved in that highlighted the issues women face in this sphere, and how it shaped your perspective on the fashion industry itself?

The fashion industry has always been evolving to reflect more diverse facets of society, now more so than ever. Older women are still relevant people, active citizens and attractive beings. It is an honor to represent the women of my generation through my work. Every project I have been involved in seems to, in some way, highlight the issues women face daily. In their own way, the projects can offer positive, supportive and healthy ways for women to consider how to be heard, how to live their best life and move ever forward with motivation and drive.

In January this year, you launched your memoir titled More Than Just a Pretty Face: Lessons Learned from a Lifetime in Front of the Camera, where you share your experiences in the industry, your history, and more. Was writing a memoir something that you’ve always wanted to do, and how has the process of writing and publishing been for you?

Many women over the last several years asked me a lot of the same questions, I noticed. If I wrote down the answers in a book, then maybe other women with the same questions would be able to read my answers. During the lockdown of 2020, I utilized that time to write my memoir. It was a challenge to be so vulnerable. What kept me going was believing my words might help someone, somewhere.

Three things you wish you knew before starting out?

Everything is going to be alright.

Biggest setback in life and what you’ve learned from it?

Setbacks can be looked at as failures, when in fact, failures lead to successes. I’ve had a lot of challenges in my life which felt hard yet once I passed through them I always came out stronger, wiser and better able. Lessons are always there. I try to look at my life like that and learn how to do better even from small challenges that arise on a daily basis.

The Four Agreements by Miguel Ruiz can be summed up easily, are simple enough to remember and always bring me to my center.
