Now more than ever, it’s so easy to get swept up in the whirlwind of styles showcased on runways and social media feeds, succumbing to the pressure of keeping up with what’s ‘in’ at the moment. However, in this relentless chase for the latest trends, we often lose sight of the essence of true style — the art of reflecting who we are, rather than mirroring what everyone else is wearing. It’s the subtle elegance of a perfectly tailored jacket, or the vintage accessories that whisper stories of unique journeys. Personal style, at its core, is a celebration of individuality and a testament to our identity. That is exactly what our latest Cool Face of Bastet Noir is trying to share through her content, as a style message to the younger population.
Amanda Dawson is a fashion influencer and digital content creator with over 57K followers and 2.5 million likes on the video-sharing app TikTok. Her content serves as a gentle reminder that basics can really become an eternal investment, and rewearing pieces of clothing from our closet is the key to building a style we truly feel comfortable in. From hauls to quick OOTDs, her videos are the epitome of Gen Z chic, and her recommendations on quality pieces are well loved on the app. Continue reading to find out more about Amanda and how she got her start on TikTok.

Who is Amanda Dawson?
I’m someone who loves fashion (obviously), coffee, a good book, my boyfriend, my friends and family and my cat.
What’s your morning routine like?
During the week, my morning routine consists of me sleeping until the last possible minute before I have to get ready and rush out the door. I’m not typically a morning person! Although, on my days off it consists of me scrolling on my phone and enjoying my morning coffee.
We at Bastet Noir adore your youthful take on building a closet filled with timeless basics. How would you describe your personal style, and how has it evolved over time?
I would describe my personal style as simple but impactful. For instance, jeans and a white tee is one of my favorite outfits but it has to be the perfect pair of denim and the best fitting white tee. I think that plays a big part in making a style timeless, its not just about the style itself but how it fits and how it’s made. This is something I’ve come to realize overtime as my style has evolved. I used to reach for pieces that I thought would stand out in my closet, rather than reaching for what was reliable.

With over 57K TikTok followers and 2.5M likes, your fashion and styling videos give inspiration to many girls around the world to find their own personal style. When did you know that TikTok could turn into something more than just a leisure-time app to pass the time on?
I actually started my @daws0namanda account as a second page. I had already been on the app for around two years on a personal page but I had never tried making my own content. I knew when I started the second page that I wanted it to be geared towards fashion, beauty and lifestyle content. It wasn’t until I posted an outfit video that started to pick up traction that I decided to mainly stick to fashion. From there, it just felt like something I needed to be doing and I’ve never looked back.
Three things you wish you knew before starting out?
Three things I wish I knew before starting out are that if you truly believe in something, to keep trying, don’t give up on an idea just because it isn’t working yet. To remember who’s opinions truly matter to you and to not hold too much weight to those who don’t. Lastly to have fun and to not take anything too seriously.
Biggest setback in life and what you’ve learned from it?
I’ve had a lot of different setbacks but I’ve learned to not let my past experiences impact my opportunites for a better future.

Books that changed your life
This one is tough because I’ve had a lot of books that have shaped different parts of my life but the one that changed my outlook would have to be Randy Pausch’s “The Last Lecture.” I read it in high school and it’s just as relevant today as it was then.
Favorite female empowerment speech
Truthfully, I don’t have a favorite female empowerment speech but I did just see the Barbie movie and I felt very empowered. This is your sign to go see it if you haven’t yet!
What’s in your Bastet Noir cart?
My Bastet Noir cart currently consists of the Sara 2 Piece Set. I feel like this is something we’d see on Taylor Swift so I just have to have it!
