Animal welfare policy
At Bastet Noir, we are committed to ethical fashion that respects all living beings. Our approach to sustainability and animal welfare centers around minimizing harm, maximizing transparency, and using resources responsibly.
While Bastet Noir does not source any new animal-derived fabrics, we do use limited quantities of wool, cashmere, and silk exclusively from deadstock materials. By choosing deadstock, we avoid supporting continued demand for animal-derived textiles, extend the life cycle of existing materials, and reduce environmental waste and pollution. We do not use materials such as fur, leather, exotic animal skins (including crocodile, snake, or ostrich), or down and feathers, ensuring that no animals are harmed or killed specifically for our garments.
Bastet Noir is a cruelty-free brand. We do not engage in or support animal testing in any part of our design, sourcing, or production processes. All our partners are required to adhere to our Supplier Code of Conduct, which includes our standards for animal welfare and ethical material sourcing.
We are proud of our traceable, small-batch supply chain, working exclusively with local, women-owned ateliers and using made-to-order production to maintain full visibility over the materials used and the practices involved. This approach ensures no new animal exploitation, no contribution to overproduction or textile waste, and full disclosure of the materials used in every design.
We remain committed to improving our standards as innovation in ethical and sustainable textiles evolves. We continually review our material choices and seek out alternatives that are both compassionate and environmentally sound. At Bastet Noir, style and compassion go hand in hand. By choosing animal-free materials and ethical production methods, we honor both the people and the planet behind our products.
