The no.1 choice for evening dresses, satin silk is the most valuable of satins and is a type of weave featuring an exceptional smooth and glossy face side.
Not to be confused with silk, satin is a type of weave and not a raw material, unlike silk which is produced by silkworms. Satin has a shine to the fabric that is created during the weaving process which is achieved by floating the warp threads above the other fibers to create the shiny and seamlessly smooth surface of the fabric. Satin shouldn’t be confused with Sateen which is made from cotton and sometimes rayon, as well as being executed with a different weaving pattern to satin.
Satin is a very breathable and absorbent material, as well as hypoallergenic.
Our satin silk fabrics are deadstock, meaning we give left over fabrics a second chance to become something amazing.
